Tristram Hunt and Paul Farrelly MP wrote to Mark Hackett, Chief executive of UHNS asking him to stop charging disabled people to park until they could install a disabled friendly parking system that does not require disabled people to increase their travelling distance in order to pay. Mark Hackett refused basically saying that the trust could not afford to do this as they needed to ensure that the “car parking service is not subsidised in any way from funds that would otherwise be intended for the provision of direct patient care”.
